Couples Intensive Therapy
Two Days. Real Progress. Online in Texas and Nebraska, with In-Person Available by Request.
Some couples don't need more weeks of therapy. They need more time in a single stretch.
Weekly sessions are 50 minutes. For a lot of couples that's enough to stay connected, make incremental progress, and keep things from getting worse. But when the distance has been building for years, when you're in the middle of something that feels too big for one hour a week, when you've tried therapy before and keep running out of time before anything really shifts, the format itself becomes part of the problem.
A couples intensive gives you two full days to do the work that weekly sessions can't.

What Makes an Intensive Different
Weekly therapy moves horizontally. You come in, work on something, go home, live your week, and come back. Life fills the space in between. The momentum resets. You make progress, but slowly, and the same patterns keep reasserting themselves because you haven't had enough time in one sitting to get underneath them.
An intensive moves vertically. Two full days means we can slow down enough to understand what is actually driving the cycle, not just the surface argument. We can go somewhere and stay there, instead of stopping just when something real is starting to open up. You leave with more than a homework assignment. You leave with a shift.
This format works especially well for couples who are in genuine distress, who have tried weekly therapy without enough traction, who are navigating something specific like a betrayal, a major life transition, or years of accumulated distance, or who simply want to do significant work in a concentrated period of time.
What the Two Days Look Like
Before we meet
Both partners complete a thorough pre-intensive assessment independently. The assessment covers relationship history, patterns, individual background, and areas of specific concern including conflict, intimacy, and safety. Your responses are confidential. I use them to understand where each of you is coming from before we ever sit down together, so we are not spending the first hours of the intensive getting oriented.
You will also each have a brief individual call with me before day one. These calls are not joint sessions. They give me a clearer picture of what each person is carrying into the room.
Day one
We begin together, then I spend structured individual time with each partner. This is where I understand your individual experience of the relationship, what you have been afraid to say, and what you most need the other person to understand. It shapes everything that follows.
Day two
This is where the joint work deepens. We use what emerged on day one to slow down the patterns that have been keeping you stuck, work on rebuilding connection at the level where it actually broke, and address intimacy and desire as part of the relational picture when that is relevant to your situation. You leave with a written aftercare summary and a clear sense of what comes next.
Why This Isn't the Same as a Group Workshop
You may have come across couples' weekend workshops before, guided programs with a workbook, a curriculum, and a room full of other couples working through the same exercises side by side. Those can be a meaningful starting point for some couples, and they're usually priced like what they are: a psychoeducational class.
An intensive is not that. It's just the two of you and me, for two full days, doing clinical work built around your relationship specifically, not a script every couple in the room is following. There's no group, no shared workbook, no standing curriculum. What we cover on day one comes directly from what surfaces in your individual sessions with me. Day two is built from what day one revealed. It's closer to two days of concentrated therapy than a weekend seminar, because that's what it is.
This Might Be Right for You If
You have been in weekly couples therapy and feel like you are not making enough traction.
You are in crisis and one hour a week is not enough.
You want to do significant work in a concentrated period without the momentum resetting every seven days.
Your schedules make weekly sessions hard to sustain consistently.
You are not in crisis but you are aware that something has shifted and you want to address it before it becomes harder to reach.
You are willing to go deep, together, for two full days.
This May Not Be the Right Fit If
The intensive format requires both partners to be fully present and engaged across both days. It is not the right starting point when there is active intimate partner violence, when one partner is in an acute psychiatric crisis, or when the level of conflict makes joint sessions unsafe. If you are not sure whether the intensive is appropriate for your situation, the free consultation is the place to figure that out together.
Investment
The two-day couples intensive is $3,500. This is an introductory rate while the program is in its first year. Pricing will increase as availability fills. This is the rate for two full days of private, individualized clinical work with one licensed therapist, not a shared group program with a workbook and a room full of other couples.
What that covers:
- Pre-intensive assessment for both partners, reviewed and synthesized before we meet. Individual pre-intensive calls with each partner. Two full days of structured clinical work, including individual and joint sessions. A written aftercare summary with referral recommendations and next steps tailored to your situation.
- This is a private pay service. I do not bill insurance for intensive work. A $750 deposit is required to hold your dates and is applied toward your total. The remaining balance is due 24 hours before day one.
- The intensive is conducted via secure telehealth video. In-person is available by request. If you prefer to meet in person, reach out and we will figure out the logistics together.
A Note on What Comes After
The intensive is not meant to be the end of the work. Most couples leave with momentum they want to continue. The aftercare summary includes specific recommendations for what comes next, whether that is returning to your current therapist, beginning weekly work with me, or simply having a clear framework to keep using on your own.
